Meet our team of Goblins
We couldn't do what we do without our dedicated and hardworking team of nerds.
Founder, CEO & Event Organiser
Zay is a massive nerd with a special interest in fantasy, sci-fi and anime. Her love of fantasy films led her to also fall in love with puppets and the magical worlds created by Jim Henson & Brian Froud. Zay has worked in senior leadership and event management for 10 years, and founded Thames Con back in 2017. She's passionate about delivering quality, fan focused events. This will be her third officially Licenced Jim Henson Company event.
Favourite Puppet: Bean Bunny & Fizzgig
Naomi has a creative and theatrical background graduating from East 15 Acting School with a BA in World Performance. She was inspired by Brian Froud's famous faeries book from a young age and has a flair for the arts, making beautiful masks & sets for theatrical productions. Naomi has a keen interest in events and uses her exceptional organisation skills to help Thames Con deliver Fun fan events.
Favourite Puppet: Ambrosius
Ben specialises in creative content from design, graphics, production and visual effects through Bad Mosquito Films. Ben has worked with Thames Con on numerous projects doing everything from designing licenced merchandise to creating stunning event Trailers. But the main reason Zay keeps Ben around is so she has another super geek to debate movie and TV shows with.
Favourite Puppet: Falkor
Host & Compere
Kieran is a freelance Actor, Moderator and Tutor. He has been working with Thames Con since the beginning and proved his worth by bringing Zay cups of tea at the inaugural Thames Con. Luckily Kieran also has a great talent for audience engagement, hosting our Cosplay Competitions, and moderating Panels. He can also very eloquently quote any of Shakespeare's work verbatim.
Favourite Puppet: Rexy the Dinosaur
Jim studied drama studies and set design at DeMontfort university, and after having a go at acting, realised that his true love lay in making sets and creating worlds. He spent many years working for various productions, creating props and building sets – even helping to build a flying car on stage! He now lives in Somerset with his partner Nat, working as an illustrator, author and prop/creature maker through his company ‘Crawley’s Creature Shop’.
Favourite Puppet: Yoda & Mother Aughra
Co-ordinating props and decor for the masked ball we have Jeannie Ford - SFX artist from Elstree Studios. Specialising in silicone/foam latex painting for Creature FX and prosthetic make up FX. From Elstree studios, Lifecast, KM Effects, Makinarium, Warner Brothers, and Pinewood studios. She has created creature props for Disney, The Harry Potter Tour, National Geographic, as well as costume FX for Marvel and DC. Working on Micheal Keaton’s Batman costume in ‘The Flash’ and the Skrulls prosthetic make ups in ‘Secret Invasion’ being some recent highlights. Jeannie takes inspiration from the fantasy film creatures of her 80’s childhood, with Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal being the greatest influence on her love of making creature FX for film and TV.
Favourite Puppet: Ludo
Shebee has been with the team since day one and is great at motivating everyone to work hard by staring at them, stealing their seat, sitting on their keyboards, drinking their water and meowing for food. She pays close attention to everything we do and won't tolerate any slacking!
Favourite Puppet: Sir Didymus, she's convinced they are related.
